During the Medieval Europe Roman Catholicism almost ruled the nation. Only the Parish Priests were able to read the Bible as it was written in Latin (Globalyceum.com, n.d.). This gave them authority over the common people. Moreover, one-third of the entire European land was under the control of the Church which made them the most powerful authority and Pope became the successor of the Roman Empire (Globalyceum.com, n.d.). But this authority came to be challenged by Martin Luther.
